Portree Highland Games

The sun shone for the Highland games in Portree this afternoon. Opened – as always – by the Isle of Skye Pipe Band, wearing their new kilts made with the Isle of Skye tartan.  It is a great day out for families and visitors, and it’s always better when the sun shines.  The games are played in a natural ‘amphitheatre’ in Portree known as The Lump.  The shape of this geological feature lends itself perfectly for the games and the audience.  With the sea on three sides, not only can the crowds watch the games, but the views from the Lump are excellent.
